Alumni

Alumni receive a bi-monthly email with updates and details of the many events held globally to which they are invited. We also provide regular communications on Facebook and Twitter and facilitate online networking through our private LinkedIn group.

Taught Master's Student:

If you are in your final year, you will have received an email from the university on 28 November 2023, formally inviting you to book your degree conferral. The booking window is now open, which means that you have until the window closes on 31 January 2024 to make your booking. You can book your ceremony by logging into your Student Self-Service account and selecting the 'My Ceremonies' tab at the top. 

When making your booking please note:

1).  Different colleges present graduands for conferral only on certain dates. This means that St Cross is allocated a specific number of ceremonies throughout the ceremony period. As such, you may know students from other colleges (but on your course) who have been offered dates different from St Cross dates. You are required to graduate on only the dates offered by St Cross

2).  If you do not see any availability for a particular date (St Cross ceremonies) then this means that all the places for your degree type are already booked for that date. You can check back on the system regularly to see if any places become available due to cancellations. Or alternatively, please choose an alternative ceremony

3).  You can opt to have your degree conferred in absentia (in absence) and you would indicate this when you register for your conferral via your Student Self-Service account
 
4).  Cancellation or changing ceremony date is not permitted within 60 days of a booked ceremony. So if you do need to cancel or reschedule, you must do this before this 60-day period. Otherwise your degree will be conferred in absentia at that ceremony and you will not be able to attend a future date

5).  The booking window closes on Wednesday 31 January 2024 at 23:59.  Once the booking window closes, you will not be able to make a booking via your Student Self-Service account. So it is strongly advised to make your booking during this period

6).  Once you have made your booking, we will be in touch closer to your ceremony date, with information about dress code and other logistics

Research Students:

Once you have been granted leave to supplicate you will automatically receive an email from the university with instructions on how to book your degree ceremony. 

Alumni:

If you finished your course and did not make a ceremony during your booking window, then your booking would be processed manually in college. Please note the following:

1).  We still have some availability for ceremony 24 Feb 2024 (AM). If you would like to book onto this ceremony then please email degree.conferrals@stx.ox.ac.uk as soon as possible.  Bookings are made on first-come-first served basis, dependent on availability and degree type

2). All other ceremonies up to July 2024 are fully booked and we are not taking any additional bookings at this time. If you would like to book a ceremony for July 2024 or beyond, then please email degree.conferrals@stx.ox.ac.uk from 01 February 2024.  We will then be able to give you available ceremony dates and process a manual booking request for you. Please do not email with your request before 01 February 2024, since no bookings will be made and no details will be available

In Absentia:

1).  If you are a current taught finalist or have just received your leave to supplicate (research students), then you can select to have your degree conferred in absentia when you are invited to book a ceremony. This will beyou’re your Student Self-Service account

2).  If you are an alumni member and wish to have your degree conferred in absentia, then please email degree.conferrals@stx.ox.ac.uk and college will book your conferral for the next available ceremony. 

Visa Letters:

If you have booked your ceremony and require a visa letter for guests travelling from overseas, please email your request to degree.conferrals@stx.ox.ac.uk  Please give your name, your ceremony date and the names of your guests who require visas 

Degree Day Logistics:

Once you have booked your ceremony, we will be in touch approximately 2 months prior to your ceremony with details about schedule, dress code, catering and other information

Degree certificates are issued automatically prior to each degree ceremony and are handed out on the day (or posted on the first working day after the ceremony to those who took their degree In Absentia). Additional certificates can be ordered from the University website (please note, charges for additional certificates will apply).

For students who commenced their studies in and after Michaelmas term 2007, transcripts can be requested from the University website. For students who commenced their studies prior to 2007, transcript requests should be directed to the Academic Office.

The College library has an alumni and member book collection, and we warmly welcome donations of published works which we will be delighted to showcase. Please get in touch with the College librarian (librarian@stx.ox.ac.uk).

Please note that the College does not hold any theses or dissertations by any members or alumni. This is the responsibility of the Oxford University Research Archive and they should be your first point of contact if you would like to access the thesis of any St Cross member. 

If you are passing through Oxford and would like to visit College, we would love to welcome you back. Please email the Development Team, who will be able to arrange fob access, a tour, or perhaps lunch or dinner, depending on the nature of your visit.

Alumni are entitled to take lunch in College twice per term at the rate of £13.13/head. Please contact the Development Team with at least a day's notice if you would like to come in to lunch. Payment is by direct bank transfer.
Should you wish to come into College for lunch more frequently, you might consider Membership of Common Room, which entitles you to lunch five times a week (from 1 August 2019).

Alumni members are entitled to reduced rate guest accommodation in the College. Please see the guest accommodation page for details (College Member rates apply for Alumni).

Our aim is to preserve and enhance those aspects of St Cross which make our College special, nurturing our stimulating environment where productive academic relationships flourish between members of the College in different disciplines at all levels.

St Cross has always worked hard to ensure good stewardship of its resources, and this has enabled the College to achieve a stable financial position. However, the demands placed on the endowment by the needs of a 21st-century learning environment, in a landscape of decreasing government funding for Universities, means the support of our members becomes crucial.

If you would like to support the College, donations can be made online or by completing and returning a donation form (download UK form | download US form).

All gifts, regardless of size, are gratefully received and are set to work developing and expanding some of the brightest minds in the world.
